Glitter, Glam & Gifts: Annual Charity Holiday Event voted as a huge success. Thanks to our wonderful guests, loyal friends, supportive families, friendly neighbors and to our incredible team at Heath Salon & Spa, the Annual Charity Holiday Event was a big success!!
Because of YOU, we were able to raise over $4,000 for two local non-profit organizations. Not bad for a local salon in a small (but growing) community!
Our Annual Charity Holiday Event was a wonderful night to remember and we could not have done it with out everyone's support, efforts and time. Well worth it when you get to witness a little boy get a bike he can actually ride for the first time in his life or meet a dog that is being trained to save someone's life. There were tears of joy, fun photos, great music, full plates and a room full of love and laughter. Thank you for kicking off the Holiday season with your family at Heath Salon & Spa and making the Holidays extra bright for those in our community in need.
Patriot PAWS and Lakeside Ambucs are both such needed organizations in our community because they help our neighbors, families, co-workers and friends in need. Our team had the honor of giving the donations ($2,000 to each organization) at our recent staff meeting. We also got to see Jazz, the very well-behaved and adorable Golden Retriever again that has been in training with Laurie of Patriot PAWS.
Did you know?
Patriot PAWS trains puppies and dogs to become loyal, life-saving friends for disabled American Veterans and others with mobile disabilities in our area. These amazing friends help restore physical and emotional independence.
Lakeside Ambucs has been working with Amtryke in building custom-made "Trykes" (bicycles) since 1922! It is their mission to create mobility and independence for people with disabilities.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the team at Heath Salon & Spa is ready to Think Pink!
“Breast cancer awareness is nothing to be shy about!” says Jauna, Heath Salon & Spa’s owner, “…it is so important for us as women to be aware of the dangers out there and to support researching Breast Cancer.”
The kick-off event: Hunt Regional Healthcare, headquartered in Greenville, Texas, has teamed up with Heath Salon & Spa to bring their Mobile Mammography Coach to Heath!
On October 1st, 2015, their team of professionals will be available at the salon and spa for Mammogram exams beginning at 9am!
Why is this Mobile Mammography Coach so special? Hunt Regional Healthcare has created a system that allows women several different payment options and offers financial aid for those that qualify. We are honored to work with them to spread the word about breast cancer awareness, prevention and research. Thanks to the Affordable Care act, women 40 years of age and older may receive a mammogram every year. (Some restrictions may apply depending on chosen coverage.)
Women may opt to pay a flat fee of $100 or may apply for assistance to cover the cost.

1) Why should I get a Mammogram?
-Doctors recommend that any woman over the age of 40 should get a breast exam once a year.
-Any woman, regardless of age, that has or has had a family member that was diagnosed with breast cancer.
-To catch early signs of breast cancer and prevent it from spreading.
2) Yes, it is OK to get an exam if you are pregnant.
3) Yes, it is OK to get an exam if you have breast implants.
4) The service offered is a standard screening mammogram, not a diagnostic mammogram. (Those are preformed at a hospital.)
*Appointments and preregistration are requested for Mammogram screenings on October 1st.

The right brow for your face shape
Did you know that the shape of your face can determine which brow shape is for you? Different face shapes may require different brow shapes to compliment! I guess my face is somewhere in between oval and square, so an arched brow that isn't too thin seems to be best for me. Natural looking, thicker brows are trending, so stay away from over-plucked, pencil-thin eyebrow looks! First, let’s start with accurately determining your face shape.
Oval Face Shape- the face gracefull tapers toward the chin, wider forehead, prominent cheek bones, this is the ideal face shape.
Goal: to maintain the ideal oval face
Brow solution: a soft, angled eyebrow shape
Long Face Shape- the face gracefully tapers toward the chin, elongated feature from forehead to chin, some have prominent chin.
Goal: to make the face appear shorter
Brow solution: a flatter eyebrow shape which should stop the viewer from seeing the elonged face
Round Face Shape- the face width and length are almost the same, widest at cheeks.

1) What are five words that describe you? Five words that describe me would be: Respectful, Persistent, helpful, loving and joyful
2) What are you most proud of? I am most proud of being the first in my family to pursue a university level career and the first to be honored with accepting an invitation to attend Health Science clinics and HOSA. I have learned a lot about my career options from them!
3) What do you dream about most often? I dream of helping people who require medical attention and supporting my family with my career.
4) What are the five things you want right now? #1: The opportunity to jump start my future as a medical professional #2: To meet positive and influential people in a work environment #3: A chance to prove who I can become and live up to my true potential #4: To find the right place for my in the medical world where I can do the most good #5: I would like to attend a prestigious medical school to obtain a higher degree of education in my field
5) What is the hardest thing you have ever done? The hardest thing I have ever done is applying for colleges knowing that my legal state would be a difficult barrier that would discourage me to attend.
6) Name one goal that you set and then achieved. Growing up, my older brother did not make the best choices and I saw how much it hurt and worried my mother. She was so upset knowing that he might not graduate high school. (Which he luckily did!) When I experienced that, I promised myself that I would do my best and make the right choices so that I can make my mother proud. I will finally achieve this by graduating on June 9, 2015.
7) What is the craziest thing you have ever done? The craziest thing I have ever done would have to be taking the Health Care Issues exam and not only passing, but progressing to state! Now I am advancing to Nationals in Anaheim, California. All that in the first year that Rockwall Heath High School joined HOSA!

Visiting an esthetician regularly is an important next step for Botox Cosmetic users!
Quick Botox history: A report issued by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons found that approximately seven million injectable filler treatments were performed in 2010 alone. That is a 14 percent increase for soft-tissue filler injections from the prior year. Since Botox Cosmetic was made available in 2002, approximately 11.8 million procedures have been administered in the U.S., according to the company.
What happens after a Botox procedure: Following the procedure, any number of reactions can occur around the injection site. Some of the most common effects are redness, bruising, inflammation and tenderness. Inflammation, which occurs after the skin is irritated, is caused by the release of various substances such as histamines. These substances prompt blood vessels to widen, causing the irritated area to become red, swollen, itchy and painful.
